ADVIKA is an initiative of the Department of Women & Child Development, Government of Odisha, aimed at empowering adolescent girls through awareness, life skills, education, health, nutrition, safety, and leadership development. The initiative seeks to build confidence, enhance decision-making abilities, and create informed and empowered adolescents capable of making positive life choices.
Under ADVIKA, adolescent are engaged through regular sessions on key thematic areas such as health and hygiene, menstrual hygiene management, nutrition, prevention of child marriage, gender equality, personal safety, cyber safety, education, career guidance, legal awareness, and financial literacy. The programme also promotes peer learning, leadership, and community participation among adolescents.
These activities are conducted at Anganwadi Centres across the state, ensuring last-mile outreach. Each centre forms Kishori and Subhadra Clubs that offer platforms for adolescents to engage, learn, and express themselves.
