The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 protects women from physical, emotional, sexual, verbal, and economic abuse within domestic relationships.The Act ensures women ’s right to reside in a violence-free home and access legal, medical, and counselling support.
Program Officers of the Women & Child Development Department have been designated as Protection Officers responsible for implementing the Act at the grassroots level.
